pretty uneventful day today....
finally through with the drama and yea, don't watch it if you are intending to...
met martin (a.ka. Ah ma) to borrow his basic theory test booklet and to catch up earlier in the evening at west mall. now contemplating whether to change phone tomorrow (my 6230 better be in functional conditional tomorrow i hope). Ah ma's still pretty much the same though he looks pretty set on quitting SAF when his contract comes to an end in two years' time.
basic theory test coming up on thurday and sgx test on wed (though i am just going there to make the numbers - still pretty happy with omega and don't think i will look elsewhere even though the starting salary would definitely be better in any of the ma programmes.)
dinner on monday? have to confirm tomorrow i guess...

made a minor crack on my floor this afternoon when the weights attached to my dumbell wasn't secured properly and fell. damned. luckily the crack ain't all that noticeable.
otherwise, has a pretty plain sailing day... just idling around as you would put it. need to hit the cfmas material later though.
cyndi wang really can't acts in the drama show i am watching right now... haha its so bad that it makes me cringes at times and the plot is so omg... at times. hahaha

cleared the remaining bits of my room today and read up a bit for the cmfas paper and yea it is so so dry... and in between i somehow managed to squeeze in six episodes of a taiwanese drama, tian guo de jia yi

Had an enjoyable dinner last night and I certainly don’t think I could have asked for more : )
Pretty slow day today as it is with most of the past few days. Didn’t do too much cept for cleaning up my room a bit before heading to the gym.
Still have to read up a bit for the cfmas paper but yea I think I will probably get the sense of urgency come next week.

Just got home from dinner and movie with Brenda and the twins; had Mediterranean at Esmirada over at Orchard Hotel followed by the show, firewall starring Harrison Ford and Bill Cox. Don’t really want to sound like a cynic but yeah the show is kinda a bit too unbelievable to have Jack (Ford), the bank’s computer security specialist overcoming the whole bunch of bad guys himself single-handedly. Kinda like letting Ford relive his Indiana Jones days allover again. Get a better review at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408345/
The pasta at Esmirada was really good though and the ambience was a big plus point. Definitely a place to visit again.
was calling Jiebin just now to confirm dinner plans tomorrow but as it was pretty noisy at Cineleisure I went to the staircase landing to make the call, only for the reception to be really bad. was pretty funny subsequently to find the door closed and I having to make my way down and out of the building before going up to the third floor to join the trio.
Have really been bumming the past few days, indulging myself in the time that I was so badly deprived from exam preparations the past couple of weeks.
Friday – yesterday
Was out with Will (he’s flying back to the states in early May so I though yeah, I should perhaps hang out with him abit and he’s been quite a nice friend). Would have just settled for Wala Wala over at Holland Village had the queue not been ridiculously long and instead after an hour and half of waiting we found ourselves cabbing down to Attica. Quite an interesting night as Will was trying to pick up this Malaysian girl over at Attica which he succeeded. Turned out she’s working at QB (some express haircut saloon) and he will be visiting her to have his hair cut tomorrow.
Thursday
Finally met up with Jason to clear up the differences and yeah at least the unhappiness is now behind. Glad for him that he got into corporate finance too (accepted CIMB) but yeah the starting base pay for him suck too but still higher than mine. Why had I not gotten Macquarie. Damned. I hope Ivory calls me. *Fingers crossed*

Finished with the last of my papers today but still one CFMAS test to clear before the trip to Europe. Think will go down to the IBF centre tomorrow to register for the test on the 10th May so this way I will finish papers with the smiley gang and get drunk silly. Haha
Sure seems like time has just flow by rite? Three years and suddenly, POOF! Uni days are over!
One more interview up today and I got my offer letter from Omega Cap yesterday. Things are looking up and I am hoping they will stay that way.

Kinda going crazy with exam preps. Really pressed for time with a jc gathering to still factor in this evening at boon leng’s new place but it has really been a while since I have caught up with them.
Time has really flown by. It’s like 7 years since the days of St Andrew’s and I wonder how the rest has changed or settled down in their respective careers, and school for the guys.
3 more days of misery to go.

4 am already and I am semi brain dead but endure I must for it’s just under 5 days to the end of my last paper.
Got the call from Omega cap I was waiting for today, and guess I will now be able to just sit back and relax a bit while I explore other opportunities. No complaints about Omega though and I think I should be able to get a wealth of experience in corporate finance in a smaller set-up. It helps that the people at the company seem to be quite a fun bunch with most of them in their late twenties. I hope Adam gets the other position.
Oh yea… haha dear Cheewee, the ghouly pair aren’t from accounting but banking.
Back to the books.

Just a thoughtFunny thing rumors can be. i have been hearing I have secured this and that offer that I sometimes I only hope those rumors were true. Haha…
Not panicking yet though. Still waiting for the outcome from the interview yesterday and scheduled for yet another next week. Man, I would definitely rack up the points if there’s a point system for the number of interviews attended. Please just let me just secured one or two positions so that I can just take a back and slowly review my options. A career in corporate finance with a top tier bank still looks a distant possibility after my interview with UBS last Friday but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to start out in a boutique advisory firm with the wider exposure (which probably means that one will be overworked with meager remuneration when you compare them to the top banks – size does matter I guess).
Hmmm… guess what? My cousin came in third in Ms Singapore. A pity her answer in the last round was kinda weak or I would have thought that she might just have squeezed in to the top two positions. But well, to be fair I probably would have been just as much a nervous wreck up there having to answer in front of national TV.
TodayCan’t say I studied much. Was studying with Wenting and Biyu at Macs and we ended up playing monopoly which Biyu had gotten earlier on at lunch.
6 more days this time I will be a free man! That’s just like 144hrs more to endure…

Sunday – another slow dayChelsea has just conceded a goal with a man sent off... let’s just hope Man Utd can beat Arsenal later to see the title race back once more.
Revision has been kinda slow but let’s just hope I can get through two more sets of lecture notes later.
Hmmm it seems that my cousin, Geneicia is through to the final rounds of Miss Singapore Universe 2006. Can’t say I have been following the show and don’t think I will be sticking around to find out the results but woah some of those girls really seem to possess both beauty and brains.
Damned. Chelsea has just scored two goals to now lead West Ham 2:1 at the Stamford Bridge!

Probably the worst of my investment banking interviews so far.. it wasn’t as if the psychometric test was too hard (was the same copy as that of HSBC which I finished before time) or the interview too technical. It was just one of those days there everything don’t really seem to go right.
Friday: 11 days to the end of academics
Really fast time flies huh? Already reaching the three year milestone of my life in ntu.
I guess I really have been indeed a bit too laid back this semester – and the never-ending interviews are beginning to feel like an extra curriculum activity. Not too worried yet. Will only start worrying about it after the trip I guess. Right now, I should just stay focused in the preparation of my last two papers.

A blast from the past indeed. Was having supper with Wenting and Biyu on Sunday at Bt Gombak when I saw someone so familiar walking past from afar… A small world indeed, and finally I guessed it was time for that long overdue hi to be delivered. And in this instance, the world wide web did just that via friendster.
A pleasant surprise indeed when the reply came back to which I replied wondering if it did get through. Well, friendster proclaimed to have done so with the click of the sent button but under the sent folder – nothing.
The present1:57am. Exams in under two weeks with two interviews this week – tomorrow and Friday. As if I am not slow enough in my preparation but they are the kind of jobs that I would hope that I would be doing in an ideal world – as an analyst in Corporate Finance.
Wouldn’t want to raise my hopes too much even though I was through to the finals for two other investment banks prior to this… not that I am not confident but yeah, it is definitely competitive.
Somehow, I am definitely not as motivated this semester preparing for the final two papers. A far cry from my year 1 days definitely. Maybe it’s the last semester or maybe I am just worn out by all the interviews and nonsense. Including the two interviews this week, I would have gone for about 15 interviews this year though many if not most of them were what I was looking for. Some tell me I am fortunate to be called for so many but I definitely beg to differ... It's so draining having to go through all the preparation every time round...
The night just gets longer…
