Time for a little update~
Sunday, finally a day to myself… Went for a swim this morning at Bukit Batok and boy, was the sun just right for a tan. It sure has been some time since I’ve been out in the sun for that matter, the last time being the Sentosa trip with the Impresario guys.

Went back to SMU on Friday for fixed income and investment banking despite it being a holiday but that wasn’t the worst thing yet. That got to be the supposed interview for the SIFT camp for tertiary students in NTU. It was but a sham!

The email sent out by them clearly mentioned that the posts for the chairperson as well as vice chairperson was open but apparently everything was decided even before the interview itself, and guess what we were the only non Indians there – interviewers and interviewees included.

No offence but they could have made known their intention to reserve the posts for people whom they had known and saved us all (Hanwei, Jason and Xueping) a wasted trip, what more on a holiday).

Yesterday was spent largely doing the presentation slides for strategy this coming Tuesday with Jason, Doreen and Xueping in the free access lab.

Met Leon, Daphne and Wenxing who were studying in school and boy are they hardworking. Hmm… or is it me who has slackened off? Haha… think I really ought to start picking up the books after Impresario or who knows, maybe I wouldn’t even clear the modules in SMU.

Met up with Joashua and Guobang and one of Guobang’s friend for pool and supper, and it was really a calorie laden night… First Ba Ku Teh at Zion Road, then Roti Prata at Beauty World immediately after that…

It has been a while since I met up with the two of them; the last time I saw them was the night of my birthday if I remembered correctly.

Guobang’s friend, an air force regular was highly entertaining and had us entertained with his tales from his studies overseas (think he did his bachelors in both NUS and Leeds under some USP program if I remembered correctly), his army career and his conquest, though they must be take with a grain of salt… hmm maybe a whole chunk of salt.

It was nice to learn that Joshua has successfully applied for an overseas exchange to Canada next January. Hmmm I guess it will really be an eye opening experience for him and that he will really be enjoying the overseas experience; first the work and play program in the United States this holidays, and the exchange program to Ontario.

Last night we also witnessed a fight between an old women and uncle over some empty cans; presumably they are collecting cans to sell for a living. It really saddens to see such events unfolding before your eyes I guess partially because we are usually not exposed to such harsh reality of life most times whereby money become so tight and the fact that that old women is someone’s mom and that uncle someone’s dad… and at this age still have to scavenge around for empty cans and tins. Thankful should we be for what we have.

My last week spent in SMU was a pretty enjoyable one, and I found the tutors rather interesting and their lessons interesting but I don’t really think that students over at SMU are any more different than those you find in NTU. They are not really all that vocal with the exception of a few but then it could be because it was only the first week of school.

But I got to admit they do take more effort to dress for lessons and I guess slightly better at presenting (I was quite impressed with the two groups in Jane Lu’s strategy class last Tuesday) though I feel they are quite lacking in the area of technical competency which I think could be attributed to the flexibility of their academic structure (for NTU we do certain subjects for each semester and hence I think we have a much stronger foundation) and their focus on concepts then details.

Well, other than that I have been helping out in Impresario and still have yet to touch much of the readings. In fact I will be heading down to Tampines Mall later at around 10.

K K… time for a short run…. till the next time...

The time is now 12:03 am, and this is my first entry for the year 2005.

The past month of December had been a real mad month with so many activities that I think there was no one single day I had to myself at home. Ok, I might be exaggerating again but it is somewhere there.

But I sure did have some good experiences during the holidays; it really was fun though tiring to help out at the various impresario auditions, the uniquely Christmas celebration and it was great making new friends in Cheryl, Daniel, Yang zheng and the rest at IDG . But without bad experiences it was not to be.

Helping out at the amazing race that was organized by South West CDC really left me fuming with the helpers left to wait out in the rain and feed the mosquitoes needlessly for the participants to arrive. And arrive they did… 5 hours later. The following morning – The eve of New Year, we were made to wait out in the rain, teeth chattering for another 2 hours because of poor logistics. I really do wonder how the SAC ever get volunteers to help out with all their cock-ups.

Finally did my hall withdrawal application today before the Impresario meeting and also managed to bring back some stuff with me from hall. Not much memories to pack away with me though… though there have been some good friends that I have made during my stay there.

Later, I will be starting school in SMU. My first day there... Somehow now I don’t feel all that enthusiastic after all… Maybe it is the thought of having to readapt to a new environment… Haha.

Adios...
