Time really flies…. Three months has since passed by and tomorrow is officially the first day of the new semester.
Though I do not have any classes till Thursday [that is if I decide to give Wednesday’s GE lecture a miss and perhaps just drop the module] I will still be down in school tomorrow for the
wakeboarding and
business plan competition meeting.
I guess tomorrow’s wakeboarding meeting will be regarding the CCA fair for this coming Thursday and Friday as well as the welcome tea ceremony, while the business plan competition meeting will be focus on the selection and development of the available ideas so far.
After the two meetings I still have to make my way down to
Changi to join up with CheeWee and the rest for the chalet, but it sure beats doing nothing at all.
Today we also had our first wakeboarding bazaar over at the Clarke Quay Flea Market. I wouldn’t call it exactly a success because all the effort amounted to a little under a hundred dollars in profit but it sure was a good start, with the business managers looking serious about fund raising this time round.
Another incident that tickled me today was Eileen messaging me out of the blue to ask me to help look after her cousin from accounting year 1 who is coming into NBS this year, and that she thinks that I am one of the few decent and trustworthy guys she could think to entrust her cousin to. Boy… that sure was funny the way she put it…

Saturday
Had our wakeboarding dinner last night to send off the members of the 5th committee who will not be with us for the coming year but in the end only eight of us [Amanda, Alex, Junkang, Kent, Serena, Kelvin, Bryna, Me, Geraldine and her boyfriend John] turned up for the dinner.
Before the dinner I also met up with
Frieda to get the perfume and the facial wash from her, and boy was she tall… ; ) It was nice to finally met up with her in person after having chatted with her for so long [think it’s been 3-4 yrs?].
We had our dinner over at
Hotel Phoenix as Alex was not able to secure reservations at the
Rice Plate and because the food there was supposedly known to good but last night’s international buffet left us feeling otherwise. It was like eating
Zhi Char as Alex and Kent put it.
We went down to
Chijmes after the dinner to chill out. We had initially planned to go down to
New Asia Bar over at
Equinox but changed our plans in the end as Geraldine and John were decked out in berms and sandals which did not meet the dress code.
The ambience was alright and we had finger food to go along with our drinks while Kelvin and Bryna tucked into their food [they were late as they were working at some road show prior to joining us] and mmm… the fried mushrooms sure were nice, crispy and succulent…
Sunday
Went down to the gym today and also had my hair done over at Jantzen.
I was quite pleased with the end result and it sure will be sometime or take something drastic to happen before I look around for another hairdresser.
I was initially quite worried that the haircut would go bad as with my previous bad experiences but thankfully those worries turn out to be unfounded.

Yesterday I worked a one day road show for Citibank over at
Biopolis [over at Buena Vista, behind MOE] with Lawrence in place of two regulars who were not able to make it.
Though we were not involved in the 3 day road-show thingy I didn’t really mind because the school holidays coming to an end soon and also because I wanted more time to just idle away and relax before the new semester commences.
Yesterday was pretty fun and time sort of passed me by quite quickly, and I also got to tried out the
Segway Human Transporter which was pretty interesting but something I definitely would not consider for a price of $10,000.
The Segway Human Transporter allows users to commute on it using a technology called dynamic stabilization, with solid-state gyroscopes, tilt sensors, high-speed microprocessors, and powerful electric motors performing to keep it balanced…
After the road-show Lawrence, Karen and I took the feeder service to the MRT station and walked over to Holland Market where Karen took a bus home whilst Lawrence and I proceeded to have our dinner before making our ways home. Lawrence and I took a while to navigate our ways out of that Holland area though.
Haha and yesterday learnt that Karen really did not have MSN or ICQ because her computer was down and that it was not because she did not wanted to give her numbers.
Did not really do much last night except to play catch up and bitch with a few friends over the instant messengers, and leeching music over the World Wide Web… before succumbing to the Z monster.

Another disappointment to cap off my first year in NTU which was the realisation of not making it into the dean list and like they say, ‘
the greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment’.
I was really elevated last holidays after the release of the first semester’s results and had hoped to perhaps work towards making it into the dean list as a short term goal, but I guess the amount of effort I had put in for the second semester was just not enough.
I guess the C that I got for
Statistics really pulled me down… and well I can only hope to improve on my grades for the coming semester since there really is no point to cry over spilt milk.
Another week has passed since my last entry and school will be starting in two weeks time…
This week has been one hectic week, with CheeWee and I working overnight at the
British and American Tobacco Company as packers on Monday and Tuesday, and the rest of the week going out with various friends.
There was the Wakeboarding gathering over at Café Cartel, the community centre meeting, the ODAC FOOT finale, my grandma’s 74th birthday celebration, and I also went down to JB.
Looking into the coming week there is the wakeboarding celebration tomorrow night and probably meeting some of my minor classmates for dinner before that as well as the union camp if I decide to go down and crash their activities.
I guess I really have to slow things down and really enjoy the holidays and get some rest before the term commences. Time to recharge my batteries and have some time to myself to finish up books that I have borrowed and yet to flipped a page, finally clean up my room and just laze around…

Saturday
Just came home not too long ago from a smoking session and supper with Denise, Jasper, their sailing friend and Biyu.
Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t exactly puffing on cigarettes or cigars for the matter, but had gone down to a
sheesha café over at Arab Street to try smoking tobacco that was laced with molasses and fruit flavours.
It wasn’t exactly a very fun or interesting experience because it was basically just inhaling and exhaling the lightly fruit scented tobacco smoke, and the ambience in that particular café was not exactly unique or special, but it was nice playing catch up with Jasper after not seeing him around for some time.
Jasper’s accident with the glass urn [he broke it while trying to lift up the urn] did not made anything better and set him back by $200, a hefty price to pay for a glass urn.
We went down to Lao Pa Sat after the smoking session for supper but did not stay for long since Jasper and Denise had a competition tomorrow morning.
Friday
Last night also finally managed to caught up with Joshua, and he was a real darling to offer to drive Winnie back home before we went down to meet up with Denise and Ambrose for prata over at Al Ameen in Bukit Timah.
We also played pool after the supper though I was quite knocked out by 2am largely because of the lack of sleep from supper and watching soccer [
Greece v Czech Republic] the night before, as well as having awoken too early for a run that morning.
Thursday
Learnt from Viola over the past few days the problems that she is going through with her boyfriend, or rather the problems that her boyfriend gives her I would say.
I really sympathises with Viola, that she definitely deserves a better man than Samuel with her qualities. It is not as she has any lack of suitors from what I hear from Winnie.
But I guess it is never easy for one to put down and walk away from a relationship after all the time and effort one has invested, especially when she has been in the relationship for some 6 years…
However I feel that she ought to put an end to it once and for all should she be able to determine that the relationship will not take a turn for the better, or if the boyfriend remains a jerk.
What I feel is no matter how hard it will be she will just have to do it, or she could still be in the relationship next year this time and she still will not be happy.
What kind of boyfriend uses the word
Fuck Off on his girlfriend, what kind of guy has to live off the girlfriend? [I was really disgusted to hear that when Samuel visits Viola at her condominium she has to pay for his cab fare home, she also pays for his telephone bills and etc…] And on top of it, that insecure guy actually forbids Viola from going out with guy friends, or even the act of having a
Friendster account.
His warped logic being that if he can live without a
Friendster account or going out with other girls, she should be able to do so too. But that leaves me pondering over how he managed to break up with Viola then when he back was in poly, not once but twice.
I find it pretty amusing and funny that such a guy can lead the service in his church, and that he wants to be a pastor or do missionary work in the future. Like what Joshua said, it is just so hypocritical if he can demonstrate two such different sides to different people, a saint to the people in his church and an utter jerk to his girlfriend.
It doesn’t matter if he can command attention, is a good speaker or charismatic. What I feel is his behaviour simply would not be something the lord would approve of, and to have such a person leading the service…
That guy should wake up and understand the fact that his girlfriend is in university and there are certainly other guys out there… some with perhaps much better qualities, and that she could have walked away instead of sticking by him and putting up with his nonsense.
As a friend, I can only hope Viola is right and that her boyfriend would start to evaluate his own actions and stop being such a lowly self esteemed jerk and take a turn for the better or that she hardens her resolution enough to be able to walk away from him.
