Not even mid week and I am already feeling worn out... must be all the late nights I've been staying up to finish the movies on my hard disk and from the purchases made during the last JB trip.

Blood diamonds is really a gem of a show - sending out a powerful message not just about the trade in blood diamonds but the plight of the poor africans suffering from the internal strifle and the blood that is spilled over anything deemed to have value to fund their wars. So what is this value that lifes should be sacraficed? What again at the end of the day do the end consumers walk away with?

The following link shares abit about blood diamonds and how the value attached to diamonds came about which i found pretty interesting:
http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~anthro/courses/306/africa_gems2.htm

Why do we go through such an effort and places such a value on a shiny rock despite knowing that it is but, the outcome of a very successful marketing campaign and at the end of the day, the one who actually gains are the DeBeers of the world who are probably doing what they can to artificially keep the price high.

Anyway, to cut things short, for those who have yet to watch the show, go watch it.

Nights.
