It really have been some time since my last entry… I think three or four months must have just flown by…

The Past:
The school semester has come to an end…. Exams are over [sure am glad for that… I think I really screwed derivatives which was a really easy paper and Research Methods was just as bad…

Exams aside, Business Solutions was formed, the Case competition was held, people participated but then I can’t really say that I am all that happy with the structure but then again I should have perhaps given more thought about it before asking one big group of people to join. To me, it is all the same – BS is just an extended case club, and consulting will never take off.

So what else happened over the past 4 months in school? Hmmm… Wakeboarding club this time round helped supported the HSBC wakeboarding world cup and it was more about just sitting back and enjoying the action (it sure was a pity no one managed the 1080 that day).

More on the club- the committee that I have this year is pretty alright with quite a large share of year 1s though again as it is with the other committees, some people aren’t really into the sport but can you bum them off if they have been doing the administrative stuff well? It sure is high time that NTU have woken up to the peril s of the point system for hostel allocation and as usual it won’t affect my batch (think of the implementation of the double major, the GPA system and reduction of NS that was only just implemented after my batch – ok, that have nothing to do with NTU but yeah you get my point)

Oh yeah… attended several recruitment sessions and interviews and was bummed off a few with myself to blame too… haha I would have bump me out too if the interviewee was late [Oops… I was actually late for two of them]

Ran into a few familiar faces in the past week, one of them, a girl from my junior college days when I was lunching at raffles place (where else can I lunch?) . rerally quite a coincidence after having ran into her quite a few times already this year.

The Present:
Fast forward back to today. I am now an intern at an investment bank. Mergers & Acquisitions or Corporate Finance it is. The hours here are not as bad as the American banks [I am doing it at a European one] but the allowance is still pretty comfortable to live by.

The first week was not quite as good as I would have hoped, with day 1 being a day I would want to forget as I was a bit overwhelmed initially. Staff and colleges are pretty nice; they would take time to go through some of the stuff with me though they don’t necessary have to and that I have been given stuff to do that I could actually learn from [it is not to say I have not done my share to help out in the administration stuff especially after the office hours when the secretaries aren’t around] but yeah I must say life is pretty ok.

There was a drink and meal get together last Friday for myself and some of the colleges who have joined the firm in te recent past. That was followed by a sailing trip the following day on one of the senior director’s boat, got to say I really enjoyed that trip and the directors were all pretty warm and easy to talk to.

The future:
Not really looking or thinking too much about a career with the firm upon graduation yet; there’s only like 2 other Singaporeans besides myself in the office-one’s a first class graduate from LSE, and the other’s from Cambridge.

Got another interview scheduled for next week and I sure hope it won’t be the last of my interviews.

Is there any job that pays you an ibanking salary to bum around at the beach? If yes, please do tell me ya..

A hot girlfriend? Hmmm.. Any girl…

Maybe I don’t really want to graduate so soon after all… studying don’t really seem that bad after all…

Today and the next few days:
I want to go Zouk tonight! It sure has been a long time since I last clubbed and I really feel like I need it after all the studying for exams and the 15-16 hour days working…
